The Farm:Insectropía is a sustainable farm where we breed tenebrio molitor with the intention of marketing it as a healthy animal feed.

This project was born from the enthusiasm and perseverance of
Israel Benito Vegas, an entrepreneur in the livestock sector.

With studies in Business Science and Advertising and Public Relations, he saw the possibility of improving the quality of animal food by including insect protein in his daily diet, also indirectly helping to improve human food, which is the consumer of animal-derived products. After several years of studies on the sector and the struggle in collaboration with the Junta de Castilla y León to achieve the recognition of insecticulture as a livestock activity, Insectropía saw the light of day thanks to the European aid granted to the Young Farmers and Ranchers.

In addition to the adequacy of all its facilities, which have a large and ventilated space, so that insects can grow healthily and without risk of disease, and hygienic standards, Insectropía is registered in the Livestock Register (REGA) with the number ES472200000013.

Insectropía is one of the pioneer farms in the Insecticulture sector and is the only farm of its kind in Castilla y León.

Insectropia's main objective is to produce high quality tenebrio molitor to meet the needs of its customers.

To this end, appropriate feeding and care techniques are used to ensure the well-being of the insects and that they are in perfect condition. We also seek to generate a sustainable supply chain that promotes respect for the environment and minimizes environmental impact.

Israel’s entrepreneurship project also aims to promote education and awareness about the use of insects in food. In this way, it seeks to break down myths and prejudices and promote more sustainable and healthy eating.

The PROJECT

Insectropía is a unique farm in Castilla y León, as it has the same characteristics as the most advanced farms of its kind in Europe. Its objective is to produce high quality tenebrio that meet the most demanding standards and are capable of satisfying the needs of its customers.

This project not only seeks to generate economic income, but also to promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly business model. Tenebrios are an alternative source of protein that can be produced more efficiently and with less environmental impact than conventional livestock farming. In addition, their use in pet food and sport fishing contributes to reducing the overexploitation of natural resources.
